Leadership, Youth Focus of JBC Discussion Group

Jamestown, N.Y.—In preparation for the fall 2011 start of Jamestown Business College’s (JBC) new high school leadership program – Leadership Launch with Senator Catharine Young – a group of local community leaders volunteered to participate in a focus group discussion highlighting leadership traits.

Leadership Launch, which will be endorsed by Senator Catharine Young, is designed to provide high school seniors in Chautauqua County with an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills.

The group discussions gleaned information from those that are already leaders themselves. In addition, some “best practices” were captured in an effort to create the strongest program possible for the program participants.

JBC President, David Conklin, was very pleased with the response from the local business, education, and government groups. He said, “We are fortunate to have so many people within our community who have an interest and willingness to help with this leadership initiative. In the end, it will be the participating students who will benefit from the considerable bank of knowledge and ideas that the focus group generated.”

High school teachers and counselors will be receiving further information and program nomination forms in the near future.
